About
I'm not totally sure why anyone would want to know anything about me. But, then again, since you've taken the trouble to visit the site, and click on the 'About' link, I should probably tell you something.
So, briefly, my name is Brian White, but around the internet you can call me felixruina, or just felix for short. I was born not quite 3 decades ago in Tulsa, Oklahoma (the Chicago of Texhoma). I attended the world-famous Booker T. Washington High School, and then went on to study Philosophy and Chemistry at the University of Tulsa, with a brief side-trip to the Université de Picardie Jules Verne where I studied more philosophy and a little business. Finally, I headed off to Princeton Theological Seminary where I successfully studied for my Master of Divinity.
Wanting to take a brake from studies for a while, I left Princeton, New Jersey after graduation and went as far west as I could, eventually ending up in the Far East, serving as a missionary in Akita, Japan. After a wonderful year in Japan, I returned to my roots and have taken up ranching in Boise City, Oklahoma on the family farm.
I love reading and writing (especially fairy tales); I'm an Open Source Software buff, but my programming is poor at best; my favorite sports are basketball and ultimate frisbee; I speak French well, Japanese badly, and I can read Greek and Latin when I have to; someday I hope to continue my studies and earn a PhD in Theology and work for the Church in some way and fashion.
Well, that should be enough about me.
About Felix.Ruina Daily
When the blogging craze first hit, I was not a fan. It all seemed very egocentric and vain to me. I mean, who really cares what you did that day? It was like writing a diary...but in public. Gross.
And yet, I eventually got on the bandwagon. Blogging has turned out to be a great way to keep in touch with a broad range of people. I found it especially useful while I was a missionary so that friends and supporters could keep track of how I was doing, and I would still have time to do my work in Japan rather than constantly sending emails and letters out.
Felix.Ruina Daily is, as the name applies, a daily blog about my life. For the most part, entries will be simple comments about my day. However, you will also find talks about theology and free software (as in open source) here, as those are my two main passions.
